Teen Nabbed For Police Radio Interference

A 17 year-old Boston (Mass.) boy has been arrested by police and charged in connection with generating interference on Boston’s police radio system with gear that he apparently modified. Paul Lydon Jr. is a Ham radio operator, is enrolled in a technology college and has extensive technical knowledge of radio systems. He was arrested at home, where police said they found him with a portable radio. BPD operates a conventional, repeated radio system in the 460 MHz band. Police didn’t specifically describe the interference Lydon is alleged to have created, but only that it occurred over the past few months. He posted $500 bail and was released to his parents.
