Storekeepers Have Police Radio Link

Store employees in York (UK) have a new radio link with each other and with the police, and proved its usefulness within the first two hours of a re-launch by catching two armed thieves. The Retailers Against Crime in York (RACY) radio system uses portable radios to relay information among shopkeepers in the city of 192,000 residents. A police community service officer also carries one of the radios so officers can quickly respond if an emergency is reported. Read more about the system and the arrests here.
