City Council OK’s $40 Million Radio Upgrade

The Atlanta (Geo.) city council unanimously approved a plan on Monday to sign Motorola to a $40 million contract that will upgrade the city’s public safety radio network. There had been some debate among city council members on whether the money should instead be spent on other criminal justice projects. But the final vote was 13-0, with two members abstaining. The final Project 25-compliant system will be used by Fulton County police, and is compatible with Motorola systems already used by Cobb County, and future systems by Gwinnett and DeKalb Counties.
