Two Pawtucket (RI) rookie firefighters working as dispatchers have been fired after a dialysis patient bled to death, and there allegedly was a delayed response to a 911 from the victim’s husband. City officials would not comment on the circumstances of the incident, but said both firefighters were on probation and had worked at the department less than one year. The incident has been referred to the state attorney general’s office for review, and the department is also investigating the incident. The husband said he called from his own house, and also asked a neighbor to dial 911, but the ambulance arrival was delayed.
