The Lancaster County (Penn.) 911 center is pushing a national training campaign for public safety dispatchers, visiting other centers to provide insights and information about their handling of the Oct. 2006 shootings at a rural Amish schoolhouse in the county. The suspect dialed 911 to warn police to back away, but quickly hung up. Calls also came from the suspect’s wife and citizens. A WHP-TV report says the dispatchers continue to struggle with their involvement in the incident, but the female dispatcher who talked to the suspect still works at the center.
