Cabell County (WV) 911 Center routinely dispatched fire units to a passerby’s report of smoke coming from a house, and arrived to find the house was indeed on fire. The flames destroyed the house and contents, which belong to comm center assistant supervisor Kris Gibson, his wife and three small children. Gibson is a six-year veteran of the comm center and also serves as a volunteer firefighter. Colleagues report that they’ve been able to find lodging and clothes for the family. But the 911 CARES program has been activated to help the family, so check their Web site for updates on how to help.
