Public safety agencies across Champaign County (Ill.) are communicating better now that a $10 million radio network has been completed. The 800 MHz trunked radio network is being used by Urbana PD and and the University of Illinois campus officers, along with the sheriff and other agencies. In-building coverage is much better, according to officials from the various agencies, and inter-agency communications is now easy. Read more about the switch to the Motorola-built system here.
