The former director of the Barry County (Mich.) 911 center has filed a lawsuit against the county sheriff and prosecutor, and local newspaper after he was forced out of his job over allegations that he added hours to dispatchers’ paychecks over a period of years, totaling up to $40,000 in extra pay. The lawsuit filed by Charles Nystrom alleges emotional distress, loss of income and damage to his reputation. He asks for more than $25,000 in damages. No criminal charges have been filed against Nystrom, but detectives say the investigation is still open. Although Nystrom allegedly did not benefit himself, the county considered the actions to be embezzlement. Read more here.
