Delayed Vandalism Response

Officials in Penticton (BC) are upset that several 911 calls from a vandalism witness didn’t generate a police response, and say it’s an on-going problem due to understaffing and overwork at the region comm center in Kelowna. But the RCMP says it was the fault of a single dispatcher and that it was an isolated incident. The two vandals heavily damaged an historic ship site along Okanagan Lake, and were reported by the witness about 11:30 p.m. The witness called several more times and even followed the men when they left. Police finally arrive at 4: 16 a.m. Read more about he delay here.
