Man Threatens Dispatchers, Arrested

A 49 year-old man was arrested by Martin County (Fla.) sheriff’s deputies after he allegedly dialed 911 several times and threatened sheriff’s dispatchers with bomb and sniper rifle attacks. The man had his car towed several months ago, and had been calling dispatchers from a cellular phone since June 29th. However, his phone wasn’t registered, so dispatchers couldn’t link it to a specifiic address. Early this week the suspect made another call, this time using the same phone, with the same displayed phone number, to make a prank call about a neighbor. He gave the neighbor’s address, a dispatcher recognized the phone number, and neighbors recognized the man’s voice from a tape of is calls. He’s charged with one count each of filing a false report concerning planting a bomb, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and aggravated assault, sheriff’s officials said.
