Congressional Testimony on 911 Bill

A Congressional sub-committee on telecom and the Internet heard testimony today from a variety of officials on proposed legislation, H.R.3403, the 911 Modernization and Public Safety Act of 2007. The bill formally would, “promote and enhance public safety by facilitating the rapid deployment of IP-enabled 911 and E-911 services, encouraging the nation’s transition to a national IP-enabled emergency network and improve 911 and E-911 access to those with disabilities.” Those testifying include NENA president Jason Barbour, Robert Mayer, VP of United State Telecom Association, Catherine Avgirls, Sr. VP of Comcast, and Craig Donaldson, Sr. VP of Intrado Inc.
