The way telephone calls are answered and incidents are dispatched has changed in Baxter County (Ark.), and there is mixed opinions on if the switch was successful. The county Office of Emergency Management Director Tom Fischer says there’s confusion over how his 911 dispatchers and the sheriff’s dispatchers are handling calls and incidents, but
sheriff’s Chief Deputy Jeff Lewis said that despite some minor glitches, everything is running smoothly. The dispatchers work from two different locations, and some of the confusion occurs because both have the ability to dispatch sheriff’s deputies. Read more about the new operations here.
