NENA has signed an agreement with the company NetworkOmni Multilingual Communications that provides special pricing on the company’s services for NENA members. The company offers toll-free telephone interpreting services 24-hours a day in over 150 languages, NENA said in an e-mail announcing the agreement. The company’s interpreters are “screened and qualified for emergency call-taking and provide mission critical support for dispatchers,” NENA noted. The e-mail also explained that, “From time to time, NENA enters into agreements with industry leaders relating to the development and sale of 9-1-1 related technology. As part of these agreements, NENA negotiates payment of administrative fees to NENA by the technology partner. These fees may be paid based on sales of technology to NENA members.” Even so, NENA said it doesn’t endorse “any specific product nor require its members to purchase specific products based on these agreements.”
