A 9 year-old child’s 911 call in Rineyville (Ken.) reporting that his mother and her former mother-in-law had been shot to death by an intruder was handled skeptically by a county dispatcher, who then transferred the call to the state police comm center. Arriving officers found the two women and a dog had been killed the previous night, but the child and his two younger siblings had been hiding inside the house since the shooting and were afraid to use the phone. The logging tape of the child’s call has been posted on-line and is chilling in its detail. The incident was highlighted on Wednesday’s episode of Dan Abrams’ show on MSNBC, with Abrams asking why the original calltaker transferred such a young caller under such circumstances.
