The National Fire Protection (NFPA) has posted a draft of the 2007 update to Installation, Maintenance, and Use of Emergency Services Communications Systems, a long-time standard that provides guidance on building and staffing public safety comm centers. The standard is advisory only and pertains to only fire operations. Nonetheless, it’s considered the pre-eminent starting point for those attempting to set performance goals and operational procedures for comm centers. The standard is copyrighted and usually only available for a fee, but you can download the draft here.
