The city of Guayaquil (Ecuador) has signed systems integrator Unión Eléctrica to a $5 million contract to design and build a new 911 communications center for handling telephone calls and unit dispatching. The contract includes entire suite of software products: CAD, 911, mapping, records management, and radio management. Guayaquil is the country’s most populated and industrialized city, Positron notes in a press release, and the comm center has 25 calltakers, 35 dispatchers, all controlling a fleet of 500 vehicles. The center will also be the control point for an extensive city-wide TV surveillance system.
