Dispatchers’ Phones Seized

Athens County (Ohio) 911 officials have seized the cellular phones of several dispatchers in connection with a long-term, on-going internal and criminal investigation into an incident that no one is willing to describe. 911 director Doug Bentley said he’ll announce his decision about any discipline this week, but didn’t further describe the situation that led to the phone searches. He did say that dispatcher Liz Smith is on administrative leave, a probationary dispatcher was fired and a part-time dispatcher is no longer-working. Read only slightly more about the situation here.
