Volusia County (Fla.) officials have changed their notification procedures after a shark bite incident wasn’t communicated to beach patrol officers for seven minutes. The victim’s injuries were minor, but county officials say they’ll now immediately page beach officers when an emergency occurs. The delay occurred because of two different comm centers, call relaying and the unit notification process. Read more here.
