A Colquitt County (Geo.) E911 dispatcher has been arrested and fired after surveillance videos documented her vehicle being used in a string of burglaries in four counties, and she then allegedly lied that the vehicle had been stolen. Amanda Brooks, 20, was formally charged with false report of a crime and filing a false police report. Police said six businesses were hit during the burglary series. A deputy spotted the suspect vehicle after the last burglary and gave chase, the car wrecked and the suspects escaped. After deputies traced the car to Brooks–who was working at the time–she allegedly filed a police report that it had been stolen. Police developed evidence that Brooks knew the car was being used in the series. Brooks’ boyfriend is a suspect in the series and is at large, but said they don’t believe Brooks used her position to actually assist him in the crimes.
