NTIA Revises Grant Guidelines

The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) has revised its guidelines for distributing $968 million in grants for public safety radio interoperability, allowing systems in bands other than 700 MHz, and reimbursing states for planning and coordination costs. There is now also $75 million set aside for states to establish caches of strategic technology, including radios, for a critical incident. The kicker–there is just six days left to apply for the grants, which must be awarded by Sept. 30th, and actually spent by agencies by Sept. 30, 2010. Download (pdf) the revised guidelines here.
