Virginia Secretary of Technology Aneesh Chopra has announced a partnership between the state and Microsoft Corp. the two say will improve communications between educational campus officials, parents, students, faculty and area residents by using Microsoft’s Virtual Earth platform for mapping. In a press release issued during a state security conference, Chopra said Microsoft will make provide development tools free to campus safety leaders within the state to create and distribute Web-based maps. The company will also offer Web-based trainng for campus safety leaders on the mapping solutions.
