City Turns Off Digital Radios

Miami Beach police have switched their Motorola 800 MHz trunked radio system back to analog mode after it crashed several times recently. But the police union says it’s still a safety issue, since the the radio system in analog mode has several dead spots around the city. The department says the radio system glitched for three hours on August 5th, allowing outbound transmissions, but not inbound broadcasts from officers. Motorola has sent technicians to examine the system and fix any problems. The system was installed in 2003, and officers have been complaining about reception problems since then. Read more here.
