The world of public safety communications is more often mixing with the transportation industry, including so-called Advanced Traveler Information Systems (ATIS) that distribute information via many different paths. Now the Federal Highway Administration has posted a guide, “Communicating with the Public Using ATIS During Disasters” that contains lots of interesting information that explains use of ATIS, case studies, and a toolkit for developing an ATIS strategy.
