A Phoenix (Ariz.) dispatcher made the last radio call for units 834-Henry, Off. George Cortez Jr., who was shot and killed by a suspect he was handcuffing for forgery investigation. “Goodnight, sir. You’ll be greatly missed,” the dispatcher radioed. Nearly 2,000 persons attended a memorial service, where his friends and colleague’s described their sorrow, but also upbeat stories of Cortez’s life. Read more about the experience here.
