Radio Boss Cited for Speeding

Radio transmissions travel at the speed of light, and the head of the UK’s public safety radio network travels only somewhat slower. Police say the caught Roderick McFarlane speeding on two occasions, once at 130 mph and the other at 100 mph. He has two prior speeding convictions, records reflect. At his court hearing, McFarlane said he was on call 24 hours a day because of his position with the Airwave radio network, requiring him to keep his driving privilege. The defense also brought up the recent Glasgow airport bombing as one example, but admitted that McFarlane wasn’t actually needed at that incident. The judge decided that McFarlane will have to find alternate transportation to anywhere he’s needed, as he suspended his driving privilege for two months. McFarlane will also pay a $410 fine.
