FCC commissioner Jonathan Adelstein spoke to the E9-1-1 Institute’s round table in Washington last week about the Commission’s proposal to increase the accuracy of Phase II services (actually, change the way cellular carriers must report it to the FCC). He summarized the changes, and said he was “deeply concerned” that current Phase II accuracy rules aren’t sufficient to locate a person who dials 911 for help. He called on all parties to be helpful and collaborative, rather than become involved in “rushes to judgement” about the issue. Download (pdf) his prepared speech here.
