A Minneapolis (Minn.) Qwest telephone repairman was beaten up after he volunteered to dial 911 to help a man who claimed he’d been robbed. The suspect approached the repairman in his company truck, saying he’d been robbed. The driver wouldn’t let the man into his truck, but volunteered to dial 911, which he did. After explainng the situation to the calltaker, the dispatcher asked to speak to the victim directly. The repairman handed the phone to the suspect, who walked off with the phone and refused to return it. The repairman followed the man, and later confronted him. But another man attacked the repairman from behind, breaking his nose, loosening a tooth and giving him a concussion. The attacker was later arrested.
