Washington County (Ore.) dispatcher Bruce Botkin talked with a local TV station about his handling of a 911 call from a witness to an auto accident that claimed the life of two persons. The couple’s car wasn’t located by responding fire and state police units, and lay in a ditch for almost three weeks before a helicopter spotted the vehicle. “It’s definitely something I struggled with last night when I was watching the news report,” Botkin told the reporter. Botkin is a 16-year veteran of the agency, and said he was caught up in arguments between two fire agencies over which agency should respond. “The one thing that I’ve been criticizing myself for is why didn’t I ask him to go back?” Botkin said. The State Police are conducting a review of how the incident was handled. Read more here.
