The Valencia County (NM) 911 center had to be evacuated and operations moved to neighboring Torrance County after an exterminator’s spraying caused six of the center’s eight dispatchers to become ill. The exterminator said he sprayed the entire building, but that only the dispatchers were affected. All the dispatchers were treated on-scene by paramedics and none was taken to a hospital. The back-up plan worked as designed and no 911 calls were missed, officials said.
