An investigation by the Arizona Daily Star newspaper found that 911 calls in Tucson are usually answered promptly, but that some calls take up to 7 minutes for an answer using a newly-installed ACD system, and the percentage of long answers has been growing. Last year just 66% of 911 calls were answered within 10 seconds, less than NENA’s standard of 90% , the story states. But the story also notes the long answer times might be the result of reduced staffing: 29 of the comm center’s 88 positions are vacant. Read more here.
