911 vs. Radio Disagreement

The MRT Magazine on-line edition outlines a disagreement between the two major public safety communications associations over federal grant funding, and over how it should be allocated between 911 and public safety radio projects. An NTIA official said during NENA’s annual conference that federal grant from a specific program could also be used for 911 projects, but APCO and others say those funds are specifically for radio interoperability projects and shouldn’t be shared.
