City, County Merge Operations

The city of St. Paul (Minn.) and Ramsey County have merged their three public safety dispatching operations in a new $30 million center that will crank up June 19th. No dispatchers lost their jobs as a result of the change, and the public will dial the same telephone numbers for help, officials noted. Only White Bear Lake will continue to operate their own PSAP after the change. A new 800 MHz trunked radio system will also help integrate operations from all the county’s public safety agencies. Read more about the transition, pay changes, cross-training and stress here.
