Formal Complaint on Radios

The Battle Creek (Mich.) police officers’ union has filed a formal complaint with the city about the unreliability of the Michigan Public Safety Communications radio system the city just joined. Battle Creek officers complain that their radio transmissions are sometimes not heard by a dispatcher. The $4 million radio project moved the police from a multi-channel VHF system to the state’s 800 MHz trunked radio system installed by Motorola. The state-wide system first went on-line in 1997 and now has 945 local, state and federal agencies on-line. Read more here.
