Senator Urges Spectrum Action

Presidential candidate John Edwards has sent a letter to FCC chair Kevin Martin pointing out that the upcoming auction of spectrum in the 700 MHz band is “a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to shape the next generation of American technology.” Edwards did not mention any of the formal proposals made for the band, including by Cyren Call, Frontline Wireless and Google. Instead, he asked that, “As much as half of the spectrum should be set aside for wholesalers who can lease access to smaller start-ups.” Read Edwards’ entire letter here.
