Movie Short Mocks 911

Monday’s episode of the Fox television series “On the Lot” featured a one-minute film by Britisher Phil Hawkins titled “Please Hold,” and which replayed the old joke of someone dialing 911 and reaching a recording. In this case, the contestants were required to make a humorous 60-second film. In Hawkins’ short, a woman awoke in the middle of the night to see someone burglarizing her home. She dialed 911 and heard a female voice say, “Please hold..” As the burglar continued to clean out her house, a recording told the victim, “If you’re been burglarized, press….” and so forth. All three of the show’s judges noted that the 911 joke had been done before. [Update–Hawkins received the lowest number of viewer votes, and was eliminated from the competition on Tuesday’s broadcast.]
