Martin County (Fla.) Fire Rescue dispatcher Richard Raymer has made a big decision: after 20 years of dispatching he’s leaving to become a Lutheran pastor. “I’ve tended to their physical needs for so long that I believe now God is calling me to help them spiritually,” he told a reporter. Raymer, 48, says that when his mother died in 2000, he “began searching spiritually.” He and his daughter traveled to Guatamala in 2004 on a mission, and he then began studying for his eventual job change.
