Fed-Ex Interference on Police Radio

Oops! The FCC has fined express delivery firm Fed-Ex $4,000 for broadcasting on a radio channel assigned to the Riverside (S. Calif.) Police Department, causing interference, especially during some sensitive tactical operations. The transmissions on 460.25 MHz were traced by RPD and the FCC to a Fed-Ex distribution facility, where they found portable radios programmed on the frequency and four others. The FCC determined that Fed-Ex’s actions weren’t willful or repeated, and so lowered the fine amount. Download (pdf) the FCC’s order here.
