Winnebago County (Iowa) sheriff’s dispatcher Sue Bosma was proclaimed a hero by the wife of a man who suffered a medical problem at a truck stop in Oklahoma. Cindy Simmons was talking to her trucker husband on the phone when he suffered chest pains. She dialed 911 from her Thompson (Iowa) home and reached Bosma. She instructed Simmons to have her husband dial 911 from his location. But Bosma also took the initiative to call the police in Marietta and Love County (Okla.) to notifiy them of the emergency. About 30 minutes later she received a call-back from Oklahoma that Simmon’s husband had suffered an aortic aneurysm and was near death, but because of the her quick action, he’s expected to recover.
