911 Call Before Shooting

Flint (Mich.) police have released the logging tape of a 911 call made by a woman who was later shot and killed by police after the officers say she approached them armed with a knife. During the 42-second call, Jo Ann Burgett, 46, told a dispatcher, “I’m going to kill somebody if somebody don’t take care of me.” The dispatcher asked her, “Why?” and Burgett, “Because they keep ——- me.” The dispatcher told her, “We’ll get someone over to you.” Officers found her outside her trailer home with a knife, police said, refused to put down the knife, and was shot five times when she advanced.
