Retirement After 39 Years

Marie Mores deserves a retirement after…gulp! 39 years. She began as a dispatcher on April 1, 1968 at the Armstrong County (Penn.) courthouse basement comm center that served the northern part of the county. The county’s two centers merged in 1989, and she recalled working the night shift alone at the center. “I was scared to death,” she said. Mores, 65, became the 911 coordinator in 1993 and has grown to 10 full-time and 6 part-time dispatchers. She’ll still have contact with public safety: her daughter is a paramedic, her son is a police officer and her husband is a firefighter.
