The head of Albuquerque’s (NM) 311 call center operation has resigned amid allegations he made insulting remarks to women employees, and repeatedly asked a 911 comm center dispatcher out on dates. Michael Padilla resigned, but denied the charges that a city investigation had earlier confirmed about his behavior. He had been working at the 911 center recently, tasked by the mayor to improve performance. Ten supervisors complained that Padilla had made sexist remarks, but Padilla said the complaints were simply based on resistance to the changes he had recommended. The mayor has put a deputy city attorney and the city’s chief administrative officer in charge of the 911 center for now. Read more about the situation here.
