ABC-TV’s “Good Morning America” program included a segment on emergency medical dispatching (EMD), related to the March incident in Pasco County (Fla.) that left a choking woman dead. The story focused on the lack of any national standard, and varying state standards for EMD, and also mentioned three other high-profile incidents involving dispatcher performance. The story included two short “sound bites” from NENA president Jason Barbour, but barely mentioned possible dispatcher misconduct in the Florida case. Watch the video here.
