Hang-up 911 calls are a burden on the Fort Wayne (Ind.) police comm center, but a certain percentage are for real emergencies that can’t be ignored, according to a great on-line story in The News-Sentinel newspaper. During a recent 3-month period, dispatchers handled 1,422 hang-up 911 calls, and had to send officers to investigate, taking an average of 16 minutes a 40 seconds for officers to handle. Among those incidents, there were arrests in 35 of the calls, according to the newspaper. Read more about the situation here.
