The state of Pennsylvania’s state-wide public safety radio network is “one of the biggest boondoggles,” according to state Sen. Donald White, and apparently will cost nearly double its original price tag and won’t be completed for two or three more years, state officials say. The system has been under construction for 10 years, an was originally intended to provide mobile-only coverage throughout the state. After the Sept. 11th terrorist attacks, the system was re-designed to provide coverage for all local public safety agencies, but at an increased cost. Read more here.
