Senators Praise Dispatchers

Just before the kick-off to National Public Safety Telecommunicator Week, U.S. Sen. Jim Webb (D – VA) released a statement honoring the work of dispatchers. “These first responders play a vital role in ensuring that all Americans have the resources they need in times of emergency,” he said, and thanked them “for their dedication and tireless service.” Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) also released a statement, saying, “Telecommunications professionals are the first line of communication with the public, from a hurricane or terrorist threat to a local 9-1-1emergency, providing our citizens with a soothing voice, a steady hand, and life-saving information.” NTW was first conceived in 1981 and officially became a permanently-recognized Congressional week in 1994. This year NTW runs from April 8th through April 14th.
