Kanawha County (WV) commissioner Kent Carper says he’ll sue VoIP provider Vonage Holdings Inc. if the company doesn’t start collecting and giving the county $2 per month 911 surcharge fees for each customer. Carper said the company is providing “telephone service,” which makes them liable for collecting the fees. He wants fees retroactive to July 1, 2006, and says he doesn’t know how much the county might be owed.
