Be ready for anything…Monica Hudson paid her $5 and drove into the self-service car wash in Port Huron (Mich.), and her car moved inside the machine–and then the machinery stalled. She tried bumping her way through, but it didn’t work. She dialed visible phone numbers, but she reached a recording and an unhelpful alarm company. So…she dialed 911, and a dispatcher told her neither police or fire would respond to help. Hudson recalled, “She said you’re just going to have to wait until someone comes along. I couldn’t believe it.” A fire spokesman said crews would have responded to help Hudson had they been notified. After almost 90 minutes, another couple arrived to wash their car, helped Hudson push some buttons, and then put money into the car wash–bing!–Hudson’s car was released. Listen to the 911 call here.
