Dial 911, Not Husband

Sometimes you’d like people in trouble to dial 911–and not their husand. A woman in Agawam (Mass.) was walking in a state park, slipped on an icy path and fell down an embankment. She landed, but then rolled off a ledge and fell again onto rocks next to Westfield River and broke her leg. Her first instinct–call her husband, who dialed 911 for help. However, the woman was unsure of her exact location for responding emergency units. Finally, dispatchers told her husband to instruct her wife to hang up, and dial 911. The Agawam PD has Phase II capabilities, and the woman was quickly located and rescued.
