A consultant’s report on operations at the Tallahassee (Fla.) police-fire comm center showed that dispatchers there transferred 12,579 telephone calls to the Leon County sheriff’s comm center during 2006, but the sheriff’s center transferred just 1,412 fire calls to the city. The 100-page report is intended to provide insights into operations as part of a plan to consolidate the two centers. The city’s fire and EMS departments handle both city and county locations, which accounts for many of the transferred calls. The report noted that 911 calls increased an average of 11% each year from 197 to 2006.
