Raccoon Incident Apology

The newspaper headline pretty much says it all: “Rochester police chief says sorry for raccoon incident.” Rochester police chief David Dubois made a personal visit to Sharon Bonney to answer a complaint that his officers didn’t respond when she called to report a raccoon had invaded their yard, attacked their dog, and that her husband was trying to wrestle the wild animal off the pet. The chief say he was concerned enough to launch an investigation that could result in discipline, and Bonney said she was impressed the chief took the time to visit and apologize. A dispatcher told Bonney to call state Fish & Game, Fish & Game told Bonney to call the local police, and a sergant she talked to put her on hold until after the raccoon decided to leave.
